The Effects of Camostat Mesilate(FOIPAN) in Chronic Pancreatitis

Abstract
|
|
|
A potent oral protease inhibitor, Camostat Mesilate (FOIPAN(R)), was developed for the therapeutic agent in chronic pancreatitis. The clinical effects were evaluated in 25 patients with chronic pancreatitis. 200mg of FOIPAN(R) was given t.i.d.
orally
for 4 weeks. FOIPAN(R) was very effective in the alleviation of the subjective symptoms such as abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting, indigestion and abdominal fullness. The global utility rate of the FOIPAN(R) in the chronic pancreatitis was
76.0%.
It
was most effective in the patients with elevated serum amylase level. There were no significant side effects during the clinical trial.
It could be said that FOIPAN(R) was a safe and effective drug in the treatment of chronic pancreatitis.
